I'm going to pass as after the amount of problems I've had in the past and the lack luster support of everytime I opened a ticket the solution was to reinstall it or something was corrupted I threw in towel and opted for Paragon's Hard Disk Manager Suite 14.
I ran into problem of random issues with disc errors when attempting backups and so forth.Īnyway, I just got email of an amazing deal for 19.99 to upgrade to 2014. The basic backup was good, however but don't expect anything beyond that which it sounds like you are. Days to get a download from a backup and the service was entirely useless.
I had 7 computers all running true image 2013 with the backup service. Myself as a expert user since 2012 version ended up having to leave Acronis entirely. Any help/thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. I really needed that data, so I have been waiting 2 days now and it was about 75% completed until we had a power outage! The 75% that did recover seems fine, but the only way to get everything restored will be to wipe that disk clean and start a 3 DAY RECOVERY AGAIN.really? There MUST be a better way. The stated time for the recovery was THREE DAYS. He also had me boot to Acronis and then start a recovery of the backup. He had me do a chkdsk on the intermittent failing drive that crashed it, Windows can't even see it any longer. Stated that because my drives were "Hybrid MBR", they could not be cloned. Tech support worked with me for about an hour. When I tried to recover the backup, all available drives were shown in RED and the message states, "cannot recover the selected partition". I was able to get a backup of the drive, and validated it. Acronis would not allow the 4TB drive to be cloned.
The failing drive had about 1.6T free space. I wanted to clone the disk to a new SATA 4TB drive.

Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup.Keep Full plus 2 Diff per chain. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup.Keep Full plus 6 Inc per chain. Use whatever number best fits the individual needs. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup.Store/Keep 4 versions (chains). Old task can be stopped or deleted from the task listings. It is usually better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder.
Rarely does an edited task perform to user expectations.
These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain.Įditing an existing task is not recommended. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. Understanding differences between Incremental and Differential backups for data recovery.ĭepending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type.
Many users with your profession use several different backup software to to make their multiple backups as their data is so critical. Hopefully, you have other backups on other disks so not all your pics are stored on one disk. You may also want to assign a specific drige letter (x or y or z) to the 5tb disk.ĭue to the risk of data loss (see GH25), I would encourage you to do more frequent full backups or have two similar tasks where the fulls are two weeks apart. To use your new disk, start over with a completely new task which has a new task name and a new folder name.
